So much better day than in the last few weeks. Everyone’s understood that I could only do what I can on the Database from Hell, so that’s a huge relief. If anything,  I got told I was doing really well, especially with the contact I’m putting in with authors – with no experience to know otherwise, I had been wondering-to-worrying that I was going too far, but in fact I’ve been “warned” I’ll be the liaison for most authors now, as my boss’ time is getting really tight. Hell, I’m not arguing – it’s the people that make a job, and I’m much happier writing reassurances than glorified data entry.

I have been making a few cock ups, mostly assuring authors of replies that won’t happen thanks to delays. It’s resulting in decisions I’ve made alone rather than the team meeting I’ve said would happen, but thankfully I haven’t resorted to lying, and I don’t think I will either.

The good news is I’m also learning quickly, which means any mistakes aren’t happening twice.

It doesn’t feel like work at the minute, which can only be a good thing.
