Oh, man, I am frazzled. And not well, as annoying as that is. Lots of work and very little sleep does not a great Sol make. When I get too much for my brain to input, I have a nasty habit of hiding and procrastinating until my background brain gets a to do list organised and I suddenly  know what needs doing and what I can cope with. Much like I’m doing by writing this post now.

Luckily I’m on top of the slush pile, but... oh man. There’s just so much else I never anticipated I’d be doing. Information sheets on books, cover checks,  stock checks, advance payments, royalty checks, arranging gratis copies, liaising with authors... I’m actually dreaming about work now.

On the plus side – or the scary side if you’re sceptical, and with me it’s a heady mix of both – I was desperate for a gratis copy of a book to be sent to a woman on behalf of an author (who is turning out to unwittingly be a MAJOR pain in the ass, but ah well), and searched everywhere, but gave it up as a bad job. Went rooting around on other things, came back to my desk, and there’s a copy poking out from underneath author advance details. I’m not arguing – it meant a crisis averted, and ensured we don't have to tell this author we’re completely out of stock till Monday (we daren't to be honest), but I am bewildered as no one’s owning up.

So thanks to little things like this it’s not too much yet, but the lack of sleep is starting to get to me, and I’m making snot butterflies. Mmm. Sneezetastic.

There will be better things next week: Paris tomorrow, and Alton Towers too. And it’s onto July, which is going to be fun- and film-filled, and hopefully I can do my emerging social butterfly thing a bit more then.

Until then, sleep and slogging through. Onward...
