1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
Quite a lot! Went to Cardiff, rather than through it. Learned how to craft leather and rubber. Learned – finally – DnD. Lots more.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Made none to keep, but this year, I think a few might be in order. 2014 was a year that was endured; 2015 is one I want to enjoy.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Some cool folks.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.

5. What countries did you visit?
Wales again. I think that counts.

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
A driving licence. More stability, especially financially.

7. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Two do:
June 21st: I went to Cardiff to see a show, my first theatre trip in over a year, and promptly fell in like (though I didn’t realise it at the time) with its sound technician, for her honesty, her curls, her talent and approach to life. Rose. She gently told me I had no chance at the time. I’m going to ask her out, like I'm pretty sure she wants me to, on the 6th January. :-)
July 23rd: I booked a night in a gypsy caravan on the South Downs, with a firepit, a friendly cat and comfortable bedding. It was the night before [livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore turned 33. We walked through wheatfields, and watched sparrowhawks, and I read him stories in the firelight whilst we toasted marshmallows for the first time.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Fixing so many people. Massage remains a major source of both joy and satisfaction. Supporting [livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore is also definitely up there.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Gaining financial stability.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Anxiety is still kicking me in the arse, to be honest.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
That I bought? Possibly a Fisher Price record player for [livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore, though I didn’t realise it at the time – it’s done a whole lot of good for him. Tea and a fluffy hoodie definitely up there as well. But the best: a summer night in a gypsy caravan.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
[livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore by far. Rose on the whole, too. We’ve all fought to be happy at times in 2014.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Same as in 2013, thinking on it. Later, my temporary boss. (I have posted on Facebook about it. I might do here, friends locked of course). In both cases, a level of selfishness and thoughtlessness that took my breath away.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Travel, oil, and food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Nine Worlds was amazing. Ash's birthday. Christmas and my birthday.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2014?

The Grateful Dead, Ramble on Rose
Dead Man Fall, Bang Your Drum

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. thinner or fatter?
Fatter-ish. Still plenty o’ muscle from fixing folks.

i. richer or poorer?
Money-wise, the same (i.e. poor as hell). Emotionally, easily richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Enjoyed life as it came along, rather than what was in the future. And, honestly, sex.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Caring about people who, as time went on, I realised really didn’t care about me.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Wonderfully: cuddles, laughter and excellent food with [livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore and Rose.

21. Did you fall in love in 2014?
And how! Absolutely head over heels for Rose. Fell in love again with [livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore.

22. How many one-night stands?
None. I have a suspicion that will change in 2015. Life’s too short.

23. What were your favorite TV programs?
Game of Thrones, as per usual.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
As I say every time: hate’s too strong a word. Quite a few people I’d be happy never to see or hear from again, though.

25. What were the best books you read?
Finally got around to reading the rest of Hobbs’ and Sanderson’s works. Bloody marvellous.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Lemon Jelly is up there. I’m looking forward to seeing what else Dead Man Fall come out with.

27. What did you want and get?
Rose, a thousand times over. Time with Ash, and an open fire, and starlight.

28. What did you want and not get?
A job that allows me to fix people, make things, and still pay the bills. Contact with someone who mattered.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Battle of the Five Armies was good, but for writing, CGI, acting and a great story, Guardians of the Galaxy.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
(why these memes appear in January, not December). I was 31 on the 29th: opened some awesome gifts – I’m going to see the Decemberists in Feb! Yes! – and went to see a Jackson/Tolkien film as has been a Tradition. 18-20 birthdays were LOTR, 29-31 were the Hobbit.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
An income that justified the sheer amount of work I’ve put in. It’s been a slog, and struggling to live/eat/pay bills despite that has been a big drain.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Jeans and a nice shirt – anything that can cope with coated in coconut oil, washed, tumble dried and still good.

33. What kept you sane?
[livejournal.com profile] ravenevermore for most. Times this year when nothing did, though.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Argh. Ask me again later. I like personalities over looks.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
ConDem. 2015: the year we get to vote these parasites out.

36. Who did you miss?
[livejournal.com profile] shadowdaddy. Still. I know. Given how infrequently I update LJ, I should probably also mention that Rose goes back, albeit temporarily, to Australia on Feb 2nd. There are no words for how much I will, and do, miss either.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
As you might have gathered: Rose. Absolutely Rose.

38. Did you enjoy this year?
I enjoyed some of it. And more than I enjoyed 2013, for sure. But overall it’s been too stressful, in a rollercoaster way, to say I enjoyed it as a whole.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014?
Don’t sweat the small stuff.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“Keep banging on/ Banging on your drum/
Keep banging on/ And your day will come”
